The ceremony to announce the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Xay District, Oudomxay Province was held on August 5, 2025 at the Xay District Club with the participation of Mr. Somchan Thepphaly, Deputy Party Secretary of the District, Acting Mayor of Xay District, Mr. Thongin Khamsompong, President of the Oudomxay Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Aloun Bounvilay, Acting Head of the Industry and Commerce Department of the Standing Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, Head of the Industry and Commerce Office, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs from around the district, as well as invited guests from surrounding departments.
In order to comply with the decision of the Mayor of Xay District to appoint the President, Vice President, Standing Committee and Executive Committee of the Xay District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Sitthixay Inthirath was appointed as the President of the Xay District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Phonesamut Indara as the Chairman of the Inspection Committee, with 24 members of the Executive Committee, 9 of whom are women, 11 of whom are standing committee members, 5 of whom are women, 7 of whom are women, and 3 of whom are inspection committee members, 1 of whom is woman; together, they will manage the work of the District Chamber of Commerce to achieve its objectives and targets. The establishment of the Xay District Chamber of Commerce and Industry in accordance with the Prime Minister's decree, which defines the location, roles, duties, scope of authority, organizational structure, principles and working methods as a reference for the organization and activities of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as those of the province and district, aims to enhance organizational ownership, unite solidarity, help each other, encourage and promote business units to conduct business with high efficiency and in accordance with the law, protect the rights and legitimate interests of member business units, contribute to the socio-economic development of the Lao PDR, and to gather business people in the district to discuss various business matters, and work together in accordance with the law. In addition, we listened to the talks from the provincial and district leaders, who emphasized the role of acting as a bridge between the province and the district in economic development, cooperating with the government to solve economic problems in line with the current situation, and mobilizing business people to participate as members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
